Senior International Tax Manager (Hybrid with large corporate tax department)

We have been engaged by the Tax Director of a global media company in Metro Denver to assist in finding and onboarding an experienced Senior Manager of International Tax to join their team.  Our client is a worldwide leader in their industry and offers a dynamic environment and great benefits including paid parking, an onsite cafe offering company paid breakfast and lunch, an onsite workout facility, a great retirement savings match and a compensation plan that includes both a cash and equity bonus.  The tax department in Denver of about 15 people is regularly working on some interesting stuff including complex acquisition and disposition activity.  If you want to grow professionally and be challenged – this is the place to do it.

The qualified candidate will be a key contributing member of the company’s tax department.  Primary focus is projects related to international tax compliance (Forms 5471, 8865, and 8858), foreign tax credit and joint tax planning/compliance projects. In addition, the U.S. Tax Compliance Director may assign ad hoc projects, as needed.

Key Accountabilities for the Senior International Tax Manager position:

  • Collaborate with income tax planning function to properly document, account for and report tax implications of completed transactions, implemented strategies and tax positions taken. 
  • Support the review of all international tax aspects of the U.S. Consolidated Income Tax Return, including Forms 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1118, as well as related disclosures and filings. 
  • Foster environment of continuous improvement to streamline information gathering and return preparation/review process. 
  • Support income tax examinations, especially the international aspects of the U.S. tax audit. Assist the group in tax audits where required, including responses to inquiries from U.S./global tax authorities. 
  • Research, model and report international tax impacts of transactions, including disclosures. 
  • Review quarterly international provision work. 
  • Support review of, and advise U.S. Tax Compliance Director on, international elements of U.S. tax return, especially as it relates to implemented tax planning, acquisition integration and dispositions.
  • Assist U.S. Tax Compliance Director in monitoring and review of global tax projections. 
  • Effectively communicate U.S. tax reporting requirements to domestic and foreign accounting departments. 
  • Ad hoc projects. This may include FATCA issues, tax projections, tax modelling, research, analysis and documentation of tax compliance/planning issues. 

Preferred education/qualifications for the Senior International Tax Manager position:

  • BA/BS in Accounting g required, graduate tax/accounting degree preferred
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 6-15 years of international tax experience 
  • Supervisory experience as position will manage direct reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
  • Ability to independently coordinate resources and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision 
  • Some travel may be required
